Thanksgiving Prep

Preparing for Thanksgiving may be time-consuming yet rewarding.

Could you tell me what you’re focusing on so I can help you prepare? For example:

  • Meal planning (menu ideas, recipes, shopping list, time)
  • Hosting preparation (cleaning routine, table setting, and decorations)
  • Guest coordination (invitations, seating, and activities)
  • Budgeting (food, beverages, and decor)
  • Travel arrangements (packing, gifts, and time)

I can create a personalized Thanksgiving prep checklist or timeline for you once I know which aspect of the process you are working on.

Perfect—cleaning before and after Thanksgiving meal is essential for keeping things quiet and pleasurable.

Here’s a practical Thanksgiving Cleaning Plan, split into Before and After:

Before Thanksgiving Dinner

1–2 Weeks Before

  • Declutter: Clear kitchen counters, dining areas, and guest spaces.
  • Deep clean:
    • Kitchen (stovetop, oven, fridge, microwave)
    • Dining room (table, chairs, light fixtures)
    • Bathrooms (especially guest ones)
    • Entryway (vacuum, mop, wipe surfaces)
  • Linens & Dishes: Wash tablecloths, napkins, serving platters, and silverware.
  • Fridge space: Use up leftovers and wipe shelves to make room for ingredients.

2–3 Days Before

  • Quick dust & vacuum main areas.
  • Wipe down: Counters, windows, and appliances.
  • Set up dining area: Arrange table, chairs, and centerpiece.
  • Trash & recycling: Empty bins and replace liners.

After Thanksgiving Dinner

Right After the Meal

  • Soak cookware & pans in hot, soapy water right away.
  • Scrape plates and load the dishwasher (run one load during dessert if needed).
  • Store leftovers in labeled containers.
  • Wipe down counters, stove, and dining table.

Next Morning

  • Wash remaining dishes and serving pieces.
  • Clean spills in the oven or fridge (before they harden).
  • Take out trash & recycling.
  • Wipe floors or vacuum crumbs.

Weekend After

  • Laundry: Wash linens, dish towels, and tablecloths.
  • Deep clean kitchen again: especially if you cooked a lot.

Freshen up guest spaces (if you hosted overnight guests).
